GUADEC (GNOME Users And Developers European Conference) is the main and biggest event for GNOME fans, where GNOME developers and contributors gather together to share ideas and knowledge on the new features of the next major release of the GNOME desktop environment for Linux-based operating systems.
The two cities hosting the GNOME foundations GUADEC will be Zacatecas, Mexico in 2020 and Riga, Latvia in 2021.
“Recognizing our flagship conference as something that should move throughout the world is important. We hope to not only make it easier for people from North, Central, and South America to attend but to help kick-start local participation in the GNOME project,” said Neil McGovern, the GNOME Executive Director.
With this announcement, GNOME also revealed the codenames for those releases: Zacatecas for GNOME 3.38, due to release in September 2020 and Riga for their GNOME 3.42 release in September 2021.
The next major release Gresik, GNOME 3.36, named after the city where the Asian conference was held, will be released on March 11th 2020.Follow us:
